EATCS election statement

I am incredibly honoured to be nominated for EATCS Full Membership. I am an assistant professor at the University of Birmingham, UK. If you are interested in my reasearch, follow this link. Here are a few of my opinions on EATCS.

I have always felt welcome within the TCS community, and I believe that there is a huge value in that attitude. In particular, we should make sure that our community is welcoming for young people who often bring different perspectives and great new ideas. Similarly, I welcome the ongoing transition of TCS to open access. There is a lot of value in making our research universally available, and EATCS should continue to lead by example on this matter.

I don’t fit into boxes. My colleagues describe my research as “using track B methods to solve track A’s problems”. I can feel at home within both communities, and I would like to strengthen the collaboration between the two tracks. I’d like to listen to what people around me have to say, ask the younger generation for their opinion, and voice what I have learned at the assembly.

I support TCS4F. There is a balance in everything, and we should find a way to respect the environment having the same opportunities to meet, connect, and collaborate.
